One of the best and most familiar ways to start thinking of God is from the "Greater Than" perspective. Even an atheist might say, "If a god isn't something or someone extra, what's the point?" Without God we are left with ourselves.
Often it is out of desparation that one reaches for God. We may be in trouble, in prison, or on a deathbed.
Imagine you are a farmer during a drought. It hasn't rained for months. The fields are empty; the dirt is dry. Soon your crops may be ruined, with no hope of surviving. You are hungry. They need rain.
Would you look up to the sky seeking help from a God who could bring the rain and life?
