Our past experience can influence our faith.
Did we experience hope when growing up?
Did we know people that had faith? How were they different?
Did we have faith in someone or something and it let us down?
Faith like a real boat needs attention. A real boat is different than a child's picture of one.
Has our faith changed as we've aged?
Boats need maintenance to stay seaworthy. Have we taken our faith
for granted? Will enough water sink our boat?
Has our faith gotten stronger or weaker as a result of the storms it
has weathered?
Finally, boats are different than the ocean. Boats are
smaller and personal, yet they can float above huge
oceans. If the environment is the ocean, we can have
freedom to stay above it in our boat of faith.
